Eye to Eye

I have been extremely fortunate to have a South African family who, if they are not living in the bush, are dreaming of being in the bush and they have taken me to some awesome wild places teaching me about wildlife and our environment.

Access to wild game has been one of my most thrilling experiences. Getting up close and then having the time to sit and appreciate. One such time was a trip to one of the lesser known game parks where cubs had been produced for the first time. We sat for hours watching the cubs eat and play and eventually become curious about us, gradually getting closer and closer as they practiced stalking, their eyes never leaving us. The day before we had come cross two males warming themselves in the early morning sunlight on the road. They were both very sleepy but after a long while one male opened his eyes and looked at us with that unblinking stare….

What were they thinking - breakfast? Or was it just curiosity?
