THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ

The warmth and hospitality of the Iraqis is quite remarkable considering their recent history.

IRAQ

Iraq is a country trying to recover from about 40 years of wars, the most recent ending in 2017. The scars and ruins are everywhere but there is also resilience and irrepressible spirit as they rebuild their country. The warmth and hospitality of the Iraqis was quite remarkable considering their recent history.

IRAQ

After about 40 years of war Iraq is rapidly rebuilding although much remains in ruins. I have tried to capture the beauty and the destruction using a lens filter reproducing the look of old photographs.

UZBEKISTAN

Being in the old Silk Road cities of Uzbekistan is to step back in time.

NAMIBIAN LANDSCAPES

Growing up in South Africa, I made occasional visits to our neighbouring country, Namibia, but it was only in 2018 that I finally got to see the magnificent sand dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib-Naukluft National Park.  Sossusvlei is a large, white, salt and clay pan surrounded by some of the highest dunes in the world.  The sand is coloured red by the iron oxide that coats the surface and their immense star-shaped forms remain unchanged due to the wind which blows at them from all directions. At sunrise the dunes turn a bright orange-red against the deep blue sky forming abstract patterns of light and shade.
